On 6th May 2008, the annual 'short break' was to Madrid, with 22 members leaving from Bristol Airport. First we went on to Salamanca for a couple of days to look around. The lower left photo shows Salamanca Univerity, with the lunch 'al fresco' shown at the right.
Next visit was to Segovia and then on to Madrid. (The photo on the left shows the party in the excellent hotel.) During a city tour, everybody went around the art galleries.
A trip to Aranjuez to see the Royal Palace and garden coincided with rain, so not much was seen of the gardens!
The next day was free but in the evening we went to Chin Chon for a meal. There we saw a very old bull ring which was also the village square, Slots were in the ground for barricades to be put up when there were bull fights. Then we went to Toledo for the day.
Overall, it was a busy trip but very interesting!
